Haulout at St. Kitts Marine Works

Due to some problems with the steering, we decided to haul out and the nearest yard was the small but adequate and very reasonably priced St. Kitts Marine Works near Halfway Tree Village.

The haulout rig arrived and swung Windward out of the water. We were surprised not to be given the opportunity to step off the boat!

However, it made for a very interesting perspective …..

Being able to live aboard the boat whilst hauled kept costs down.

We think that we have sorted the problem with the steering – thanks to Etienne Rossouw (a South African from Cape Town who has been cruising here and in other parts since 1995) for his wise diagnostic advice – we understand a bit more about steering systems now.
